The National Women Entrepreneur Council offers a group loan scheme up to Rs 400,000 (for women organised into groups), the Triolet Business Incubator, business counselling, skills/ICT training and B2B meetings.
NWEC, the National Women Entrepreneur Council, is a government body that supports women in business with more than just money. Alongside financing, it offers a whole package of help to get a woman-led business off the ground and growing.
On the financing side, there is a group loan scheme of up to Rs 400,000 for women who organise themselves into groups. So if you and other women entrepreneurs come together, you can access funding as a group.
Beyond the loan, NWEC runs the Triolet Business Incubator, business counselling, skills and ICT training, and B2B meetings to help you find partners and customers. This makes it a good first stop if you are early and want guidance, not only capital.
To get involved, contact NWEC at nwec.govmu.org. Ask which programmes are currently open and how to join, especially for the group loan and the incubator.
Watch out for this
Watch out for the group structure on the loan. The Rs 400,000 facility is built around women organised into groups, so plan around forming or joining a group rather than expecting it as a solo loan.
