At a glance
Employers who pay the HRDC training levy (1.5%) can reclaim up to 90% of the cost of AI-focused courses (to Diploma level) for Mauritian/PR staff. Submit form G1 before training, G3 after. Confirm the current AI rate for the 2026/27 cycle.
The HRDC AI Training Refund lets employers reclaim most of the cost of training their team on AI. If you already pay the HRDC training levy, this is money you can get back rather than leave on the table. It covers AI-focused courses up to Diploma level.
You can reclaim up to 90% of the course cost for your Mauritian and permanent-resident staff. Because you are already paying the 1.5% training levy each month, putting some of your team through approved AI training is a way to put that levy to work.
To use it you need to be an employer who pays the HRDC levy. The refund applies to your eligible staff, so it is for businesses with employees rather than sole operators with no team.
The process has two steps. Register on levy.hrdc.mu, submit form G1 before the training starts, then submit form G3 afterwards to claim the refund. The G1-before-training step is the one people forget.
Watch out for this
Watch out for the rate: confirm the current figure with HRDC for the 2026/27 cycle, as the AI special rate is being reaffirmed and the exact percentage and any ceilings should be checked before you commit.
Register on levy.hrdc.mu, submit G1 before training and G3 to claim the refund.
