An MRA wage subsidy: hire a previously unemployed woman or registered person with disability (Mauritian, 18 to 61, jobless 3+ months, basic pay up to Rs 50,000) and Government pays you up to Rs 15,000 a month full-time (Rs 7,500 part-time) for the first two years.
Prime a l'Emploi is a direct wage subsidy paid to you, the employer, for bringing a harder-to-place person into work. It targets unemployed women and registered persons with disability.
What you get: up to Rs 15,000 a month for a full-time hire, or Rs 7,500 a month for a part-time hire of at least 20 hours a week, paid directly to you for the first two years.
To qualify, the person must be Mauritian, aged 18 to 61, unemployed for at least three months, and on a basic salary of up to Rs 50,000. You must keep them for at least three years or the allowance is clawed back.
To apply, register the hire with the MRA online, usually within 15 days of the start date.

Watch out: the 2024 to 2025 hiring window closed on 30 June 2025 and the scheme was flagged as winding down. Confirm with the MRA that a current window is open before you rely on this, which is why we mark it as one to reconfirm.
